What Causes Depression?

Is Depression Something That Happens Or An Unhealthy Habit?

Most people think that depression and other problems are something that happens TO them. They have a belief that they are powerless and blame their life circumstances, other people and in fact anything they can think of in order to BE RIGHT about their powerless state.

Most people keep their problems because it meets their needs and they are often rewarded, protected or comforted for having them in some way.

According to Human Needs Psychology, our 6 basic human needs are:

  • Certainty (predictability),
  • Uncertainty (variety),
  • Significance,
  • Connection and Love,
  • Growth,
  • Contribution beyond oneself.
  • Watch this Tony Robbins video to see exactly how WE CREATE DEPRESSION AND OTHER PROBLEMS. This is a phenomenal visual learning tool that will change your mind about how powerfully we create our own feelings by using our body, our thoughts and our words.

Tony uses STRATEGIC INTERVENTION with a girl suffering from depression. These methods are swiftly executed, produce sustainable results, empower people to understand how they “Do What They Do”, encourages independence and pro-activity (rather than dependence on a therapist or doctor) and sometimes deliberately uses shocking language to break the persons unhealthy pattern. You can choose to be offended by this or not, but to change ANY bad habit, addiction or long standing problem effectively, we must use radically different thoughts, words and actions than what got them into the mess in the first place.

Insightful explanations throughout the video are from Cloé Madanes who is recognized as one of the top 20 psychologists in the world. Cloé is also an author of 7 books, teacher and foremost authority on Strategic Family Therapy.
