Who Created God?
I wonder what would happen if we realized that HUMANS created God, giving rise to an explanation of a concept so confusing that a set of characteristics likened to a judgmental, critical parent, separate from us, was adopted …
… instead of the REAL experience of God most of us resonate with, as loving and accepting us exactly as we are – warts and all. With NO division between good and bad, Catholic and Protestant, straight and gay, men and women, with just a deep recognition of the UNIVERSAL TRUTH that WE ARE ALL ONE!
(and the questions continue)
I wonder why we felt the need to give God a name when it is possible that our experience can be flexible enough to encompass calling God many names, like universal energy, the self, infinite intelligence, the great tao, life, mother nature etc …
… and what would happen if God was MORE than a basic gender definition of a he or a she and was defined as “everything that is and everything that isn’t”, would our experience be more believable then?
All great truths begin as blasphemy – just like we once believed witches should be burned at the stake, that whites were better than blacks, that women didn’t have the right to vote. How gently we can change when we simply allow a broader concept to resonate inside us – for that is where change truly begins – and shines for all the world to see!
Don’t you think it’s crazy to believe one must achieve a high state of consciousness in order to experience God?
What is preventing us from experiencing, conversing, communing with God right NOW, no matter how we’re feeling, whether we’re meditating, whether we’re centered, whether we feel we’re worthy for God to talk to us or not?
Isn’t it possible that God is with us, beside us, inside us, right here, right now AND that God speaks TO US and THOUGH US all the time? That the answers to our questions might be heard in the words of a song, or in the writings of a friend (or enemy for that matter), or in the whisper of the breeze, or simply experienced in our own minds or heart – who is to say that ISN’T God?
Why on earth would God EXPECT us to behave in a certain way or DEMAND we live by a set of pre-conceived commandments when it is possible they were sent as recommendations, NOT rules?
Would the God of your imaginings be so NEEDY as to demand we worship HIM (?) in a particular way, by not eating meat on Fridays, by growing ones beard, by living without experiencing the glory of sex?
I wonder if it serves us to believe our concept of yesterdays God … and whether it might serve us better to re-create our experience of God anew in the moment, knowing that God can change in an instant and guide us to that place where professing our beliefs to each other becomes as redundant as the need to say “I believe in life”, for isn’t that as obvious as the existence of God – no matter what you call it!
Isn’t it also possible that there will be MANY voices bringing a message LIKE this to the world – to question our outdated and clearly dysfunctional views of God and our absurd misunderstandings around marriage and relationships?
Where there will no longer be a need for ONE to have a more pertinent message than another – where YOUR words will be as acceptable as mine – where there will be no grand facilitator, no righteous guru, no “Big Brother”, no one deciding our fate – just the same opportunities that life gives everyone.
It is a message so profound it could “save the tiger”, prevent the slaughter of whales, release the dancing bears from captivity, feed the starving and lessen the gap between rich and poor – for once we truly live as if WE ARE ALL ONE WITH EVERYTHING IN THE UNIVERSE, how could we treat each other and our environment the same way again…?
A grand vision for sure, but one that holds with it the seeds of UNIVERSAL TRUTH so enormous that once heard, read or witnessed will resonate with enough people to finally tilt the scales and create the change we are all so desperately seeking. In fact, before these words have been written – the change has already begun – for it has been resonating at the core of our existence for eons, just seeking expression in a multitude of forms – so the questions IS NOT, “what will we do to create change?” the question IS, “will you be someone who demonstrates to the world that WE ARE ALL ONE?”
WILL YOU demonstrate it with an ACCEPTANCE of the people you disagree with, the people you don’t understand, the people you hate and the people who hurt and try to kill you? For this message is no greater than theirs. If you listen carefully with an understanding and patient ear, you may also hear that at its core, it is EXACTLY THE SAME.
WE are all one! We ARE all one! We are ALL one! We are all ONE! WE ARE ALL ONE!
